Mackay North State School has an endorsed dress code policy (PDF, 753 KB) through our P&C Association. Students are expected to wear the school uniform daily. The school uniform, besides being highly suitable for the rigours of active children and continual laundering, gives students a sense of identity and pride in their school. The school uniform must be worn on all official excursions and for special activities.
The uniform shop operates from the school each Thursday morning from 8:15am-9:00am and in the afternoon from 2.30pm-3.00pm. A variety of new and second-hand items are available for sale. Uniforms can be ordered using https://myschoolconnect.com.au/register. or the Order Form (PDF, 508 KB). Order forms can be dropped into the front office. Once the order is filled, you will be contacted so that you are able to collect it.
Joggers (enclosed footwear) in predominantly black or white are suitable footwear. Thongs, surf sandals, skate shoes, singlet top, cycle pants and tights (as outer garments), and two piece (bare midriff) outfits are considered unsuitable and unacceptable for safety and health reasons.
Jewellery is to be kept to a minimum. Students with pierced ears are to wear undecorated studs or sleepers only. An inexpensive watch can be worn. Bracelets and necklaces are unacceptable.
Hair is to be natural colour. It is to be tied back if it is shoulder length or longer and to keep it off the face.
The school operates a broad-brimmed hat policy. All students are to wear only broad-brimmed hats, bucket or legionnaire hats at school. Students require a hat at school every day. Failure to bring such a hat will mean no outdoor play for that day. Sharing of hats outside of family groups is discouraged.
