A strong Music, Arts and Drama Program has been a tradition at Mackay North State School for many years. The school continues to provide leadership and service to local schools (21) in the Instrumental Music Program by being the base school for the instructors.

Our excellent Music and Arts Program including Instrumental Music provides opportunities for students in the following areas:

	Singing, Verse Speaking Choirs are formed for each year level.
	Recorder & Percussion Marching Band
	Woodwind, Brass & Percussion Concert Band
	String Ensembles
	Specialist Music Teacher
	Varied performance opportunities include:

	Twilight Concerts
	FANFARE
	Tours to district schools
	Shopping Centers
	Mackay Arts Festival, Strut and Lunchbox Concerts
	Special performances; for example, joining a combined district band to perform for the Minister for Education and the Director-General in 1999.

	Arts Council Performances
	A newly formed Drama Club
	Talent Quest
